 The Dispute

The costumes for this production are a blend of 18th century and contemorary high fashion that uses the 18th century as inspiration.  The characters are vain, looking at themselves in  mirrors and preening for members of the opposite sex. Marivaux's fairy tale is about vanity, physical attraction, and the inconstancy of love.  The conceptual images illustrate the iridescent colors of peacocks and love birds as well as the reflective quality of mirrors and the fickleness of the lovers' feelings.  These images inspired the design and fabric choices of changeable taffetas and metallics.
