The design for Seasons of Versailles was based on research photos from the choreographer's trip to the gardens of Versailles and inspired by the statuary there; the music is by Chopin. After premiering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, choreographer J. Calvin Jarrell was invited to set the piece on the dancers of the Ballet Santiago de Cuba with Laura Hanson's original costume designs.
